Alexander's Ragtime Band

ALEXANDER'S RAGTIME BAND loves and plays original jazz. The band's speciality is the combination of TWO trumpets with the usual formation of early jazz. They love the style of King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Lu Watters & Bob Scobey and Jelly Roll Morton - jazz from the first half of the 20th century.

The formation's speciality is two-part trumpet playing. Alexander's Ragtime Band takes a look at the shellac recordings of the past and refreshes them for today. The musical theme is presented collectively and then improvised over the harmonic framework with solos by the individual instruments. The repertoire includes various jazz styles: Dixieland, New Orleans jazz, swing, boogie-woogie, blues, ragtime, tango and Creole.

Alexander's Ragtime Band wants to pass on the positive energy of early jazz and the joy of this lively music to the audience.
