History

In 1882, the former Kursaal, now the Grand Casino Lucerne, was built in the city of Lucerne, then as now a place for meetings and entertainment.

The Kursaal was opened in 1882 during the first heyday of tourism in Lucerne. Pleasure-seekers, nature lovers and romantics were the first enthusiastic guests in the magnificent building. Theater, concerts, dance, variety shows, folklore, gastronomy, games and entertainment shaped the long history of the Kursaal, which was always surrounded by a touch of cosmopolitan flair. To this day, the Grand Casino Lucerne is a place for meetings and entertainment and is worth a visit in both good and bad weather.
